Marjoram Essential Oil is steam distilled from the leaves and flowering tops of Thymus mastichina, commonly known as Spanish Wild Marjoram. This plant has a hairy stem, oval leaves, and clusters of small whitish flowers, exuding a strong, distinctive aroma. Unlike sweet or French marjoram, this variant is more potent as an expectorant and antiseptic for the upper respiratory tract, but does not act as a sedative or muscle relaxant.

In aromatherapy, Spanish Marjoram oil is used to calm the nerves, aid digestion, and create a relaxing environment when blended with lavender or bergamot. It can be diffused, added to massage oils, or used in an oil burner to help alleviate feelings of loneliness and emotional stress.

Historically, Greeks and Romans used marjoram in bridal wreaths to symbolize love and happiness. Marjoram tea with honey was also a traditional remedy for preserving vocal strength.
